Yoo Star Privacy Policy

Denova Pte. Ltd (“Denova”," "our," "we," or "us") built the Yoo Star app ("Yoo Star"or "app"), which provides a platform that enables you seek advice or gain clarity on personal matters, which may include daily horoscopes, an AR-based star location feature and a "wish tree" feature that allows users to grow a virtual tree by watering it and pray for their wishes.


We respect your privacy, accordingly, we have developed this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) to help you understand how we collect, use, disclose, store, delete and protect your personal information. Please read it carefully and completely.


If you choose to use our services, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this Policy. The personal information we collect is used to provide and improve the services. We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means. We will protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.


If you are a user in the European Union, in addition to the terms set out in the Policy below, you may also review the Supplementary Terms for EU Users. The Supplemental Terms form an integral part of this Policy.


The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at Yoo Star unless otherwise defined in this Policy.


1. What Data We Collect


Yoo Star may collect certain data which will not be beyond what is reasonable to provide our product or service during your visit or using Yoo Star. This section describes the different types of personal information we collect from you and how we collect it.


1.1 Account registration information. When you create an account, we collect your account information, such as email address, profile picture, username, date and time of birth, city of birth, and gender. We also collect log data related to your account, such as when you registered. If you choose to sign in using a third-party account (e.g., Google or Apple), we will collect the information made available to us by that provider, which may include your name, email address, profile image, and a unique identifier associated with the third-party service.


1.2 Location information: When you use the AR-based star location feature, we collect your location data to accurately display celestial objects relative to your real-world position.


1.3 Feature-related information.


(i) When you create a wish within the app, we collect the text of your wish and the time it is submitted. Please avoid including personal information in your wishes. If you choose to disclose personal information, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk.


(ii) When you water your wish tree or pray for your own wish, we collect the time of each action.


(iii) We also collect information related to your interactions with other users through in-app features. For example, when you pray for another user’s wish, we collect your username and the time of the prayer. This information may be visible to the owner of the wish; Additionally, when another user taps the “seek” button and is matched to pray for your wish, your username, profile picture, and wish content may be visible to that user.


1.4 Payment Information. We collect your payment information, such as payment method, amount, and payment result.


1.5 Consumer Support Information. If you contact us, such as via email or through the in-app customer service window, for consumer support, you may provide us with information that you believe will help us understand and address your needs, such as information related to the use of our services.


1.6 Device information. In order to provide you with services, during your use of Yoo Star, we will collect your device brand, device model, device screen resolution, operating system version, operating system language, device MAC address, device serial number, unique device identification code (Android includes IMSI, IMEI, Android_ID, iOS includes IDFA (system advertising identification), network type, IP address, service log information, etc. Some device information (e.g. IDFA for iOS) requires your authorization before we can access it, otherwise we will not collect it.


1.7 Log Information. Log information, which refers to a record of events, actions, or requests that occur within a system, will be automatically collected during your use of our services. This information includes information such as account and login data (e.g., registration time), performance data (e.g., system errors, crashes, or bugs reported), and activity data (e.g., time of last use).


1.8 Other Information. In certain circumstances, you may provide us with other information, which will be disclosed on the appropriate page. Thus, please note that you should not disclose your physical health and/or mental health, sexual orientation information, etc. )


In the process of using our products or services, you shall not provide us or others with the personal information of any third party without the authorization and consent of the third party. If the content you provide contains the personal information of a third party, it is deemed that you have obtained the explicit consent of the third party (or if the personal information of minors is involved, you are deemed to have obtained the express consent of their guardians) and allow us to process the relevant personal information in accordance with this Policy. You are solely responsible for any adverse consequences arising therefrom. If you cause us losses, you shall also compensate for them.


You understand and agree that the products or services we provide to you are constantly updated and evolving. If a product or service is not listed in the aforementioned description and it is really necessary to collect your information, we will obtain your consent separately through page prompts, system notices, website announcements, etc.


2. How We Use Your Personal Data


We use the information we collect from our services for various purposes. Below, you can read more:


2.1 Provide you with our services, including:


i. Creating and setting up your user account; identifying and verifying that you are our user.


ii. Entering into a contract with you and fulfilling the contract, the core service of which is to enable you to seek advice on daily horoscopes, to use the AR-based star location feature as well as to make wishes on the “wish tree" to grow a virtual tree and pray for your wishes. All services we provide are for entertainment purposes only.


iii. Enforcing our terms, guidelines or policies.


iv. Collecting and publicly displaying user reviews and ratings the app.


v. Transmitting and storing user data to ensure the service available.


2.2 Protect us, our users and the public, including:


i. Maintaining account security, such as verifying user identity, identifying anomalous account status, and preventing unauthorized activity.


ii. Maintaining system security and stability, such as troubleshooting and resolving product failures, and detecting system vulnerabilities.


iii. Maintaining transaction security, such as preventing and detecting fraud, malware, spam accounts, and illegal activities.


2.3 Provide customer support, including:


i. Responding to your questions about the services.


ii. Responding to your requests for personal information.


iii. Contacting you (for example, through in-app system messages) with information about app updates, terms updates, new features coming online, etc.


2.4 Comply with legal obligations, including:


i. Retaining and storing your information for a specific period of time in accordance with certain legal retention requirements.


ii. Fulfilling cybersecurity obligations and taking necessary security measures to ensure information security.


iii. Participating in lawsuits, arbitrations or dispute resolution.


iv. Responding to requests from law enforcement, courts or supervisory authorities.


2.5 Conduct statistics and analyses of data. In order to maintain, review, improve and develop our services, we may conduct internal audits, data statistics, data analyses and research based on the information collected.


2.6 For marketing or advertising campaigns. For example, we may contact you to provide information on recent feature via system messages within the app.


3. How We Share Your Personal Data


Where necessary, we share some of your personal data described in the “What Data We Collect” section to third parties to achieve certain specific uses and purposes described in the “How We Use Your Data” section.


The recipients of the personal data are as specified below.


3.1 Service Providers. We work with service providers to help us develop, manage, improve, update and provide our websites, apps and services and share necessary information with them. These service providers are required to protect your information and use the information for the purposes described in this Policy. They provide services that include cloud storage, technical support, content safety, and analytics, etc.


3.2 Recipients related to legal reasons. We may share the information with courts, arbitration institutions, supervisory authorities or authorized third parties as required by applicable law or regulations, such as (i) responding to court orders, subpoenas, regulatory requirements, government requests or other legal obligations; (ii) implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that our websites, apps and services are secure and stable against the risks of threats, vulnerabilities, fraud, unlawful acts, etc. (iii) protecting and defending the property, rights, interests and safety of our users, Yoo Star, Denova or others, especially when it comes to the risk of personal injury and death.


3.3 In case, the recipients are located outside of your residence, the related personal information will be processed in accordance with the International Data Transfers section of this policy.


4. How We Protect Your Personal Data


4.1 How long we keep your personal data. We store your personal information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal information is processed. The storage period will take into account the reasons why we need to process the information (contractual necessity, our legitimate interests, defending possible future legal claims, etc.), as well as any legal obligations or regulatory requirements to keep the information for a fixed period.


4.2 How we keep your information secure. We try hard to protect your information by using appropriate technical or organizational measures from unauthorized or unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction or damage. The measures we take include, but are not limited to:


i. using encryption to ensure the confidentiality and security of your personal information while in transmission and storage;


ii. deploying strict control measures to ensure that only authorized people can access, alter, or delete the information;


iii. providing training to our staff on information security, such as the importance of protecting personal information, our security policy and how to put our procedures into practice.


4.3 The Internet environment is not completely secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We strongly recommend that you take active measures to ensure the security of personal information, such as: do not disclose personal information such as account numbers and passwords to others.


5. Your Rights


You have certain rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you. Some of these only apply in certain circumstances, and you can read below for more details.


5.1 Access, correct, modify, supplement, delete your personal information. When you register as a user of Yoo Star, you have the right to access, correct, modify, supplement or delete some of your personal information through the Yoo Star. It is important to note that some information we collect may not be modified or deleted due to the requirements of laws and regulations, the needs of our business operations or security.


5.2 Delete your account. You have the right to delete your registered account at any time. If you choose to do so, your deletion will be processed in accordance with the Account Deletion Agreement. Once the account is deleted, it cannot be restored, and you will not be able to retrieve all the content and information in the user account and related to the account.


5.3 How to exercise your rights. You may exercise certain rights regarding your personal data through the following methods:


i. In-app controls. Manage your privacy settings directly within the app by accessing the privacy or account settings.


ii. Contacting us. Reach out via the Customer Service icon within the app or by using the contact details provided in the “Contact Us” section of this Policy.


Before we can respond to your request, you may be required to verify your identity or provide your account details or additional information in accordance with our guidelines so that we can understand your request.


Your request may be denied in some cases. For example, if you request us to delete your information, but in order to comply with a legal obligation, we may need to store the data within the statutory time and refuse your request.


6. Links to Other Sites


This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

7. Minors under Age 18


7.1 You must be at least 18 years old to use our products or services. We will not knowingly collect any personal information from minors under 18. If we become aware that we have negligently processed the personal information of minors, we will immediately delete it from our servers.

8.1 Due to the global nature of our business, we may transfer your personal data outside your country of origin with our group companies, subcontractors and partners in order to provide our service to you. You understand and consent to the transfer.

i. a service we provide has a separate privacy policy and expressly excludes the application of this policy;


ii. the processing of your information in products or services provided by other companies or individuals.

10.1 We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time with the continuous development of products or services. You are advised to review this page periodically to be apprised of any such changes. We always indicate the date the last changes were published at the top of this policy.


10.2 Your continued use of any of our products or services after any modification to this Policy will constitute your acceptance of such modification.

2.1. Performance of a Contract. Personal information may be processed on the basis that such processing is necessary in order to enter into or perform a contract between you and Denova. It applies to purposes such as providing you with our services and responding to your questions about the services.


2.2. Fulfillment of Legal Obligations. Personal information may be processed on the basis that such processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to us. It applies to purposes including retaining and storing your information for a specific period of time in accordance with certain legal retention requirements, fulfilling cybersecurity obligations and taking necessary security measures to ensure information security, participating in lawsuits, arbitrations or dispute resolution, and responding to requests from law enforcement, courts or supervisory authorities.


2.3. Legitimate interests. Personal information may be processed on the basis that such processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us or by a third party. It applies to the following purposes:


i. To protect us, our users and the public. The legitimate interest we rely on is to protect our legal rights and business interests (e.g., system security and stability, ensuring that fraudulent activities are discouraged and detected), the security of our users’ personal information and the interests of the public.

iv. For marketing or advertising purposes. The legitimate interest we rely on is to promote Yoo Star and our services.


2.4. Consent. Personal information may be processed on the basis that you have given consent to such processing.


2.5. Vital interests. We rely on vital interests as our legal basis if it’s necessary to protect your vital interests or those of another natural person. For example, we may share relevant personal information with the police or emergency services when we find an urgent risk to someone's life.


3. Your rights


In addition to the user rights listed in the section Your Rights above, you also have the following rights according to the laws of your jurisdiction:


3.1 Right to restriction of processing. You have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information in some specific circumstances, for example, where you contest the accuracy of your personal information and we are verifying the accuracy of the information.


3.2 Right to data portability. You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to you or another organization. The right only applies when the lawful basis for processing is consent or for the performance of a contract. We need to consider the technical feasibility of a transmission on a request-by-request basis.

4. International data transfers


We store your information on servers located in the United States.


If we need to share your information with third parties for the purposes described in “How we share your information”, these third parties may also be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA).


When we transfer your information to third countries outside of the EEA, we rely on the following transfer mechanisms to ensure that the level of protection is not undermined: (i) Adequacy Decisions; (ii) Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).


In limited cases, data transfers may occur without Adequacy Decisions or SCCs where such transfers are legally permitted, such as when the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract or with your explicit consent.
